UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT
How to Advocate
For Your Rights
1. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.
2. EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS. Do NOT be afraid to tell ICE and/or law enforcement that you know your rights and what they are.
2. Download and distribute right-to-know materials – ILRC cards
3. Connect now with a legal provider, using the DOJ free list or USCIS-accredited reps.
3. Organize emergency plans: share documents, designate guardians, save contact lists.
4. Attend local “Know Your Rights” workshops
5. Identify and save the contact info for your local, state, and federal elected officials — the people who are supposed to represent you (and your district) in government. Find them here
Even if you’re undocumented, these reps work for your community, and you or someone you trust can still call, email, or meet with them to share concerns or ask for help. Some reps actively support immigrant rights and can even connect you to legal aid or intervene in urgent cases.
